Bedford Borough Join International Coffee Morning

Tuesday 28th September 2010

Staff at Bedford Borough Council joined in on the world’s biggest coffee morning on Friday 24th September to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Macmillan coffee morning has grown strong since it’s inception in 1990 where it was so popular, Macmillan Cancer Support decided to go international  in 1991 with over 2600 people signed up to the campaign. Nearly 20 years later and the coffee mornings have been held everywhere from the coldest morning in Antarctica to the deepest morning down Poldark mine in Cornwall. The campaign now boasts over 43,000 people taking part each year and has so far raised £60m!

The Customer Engagement team organised the coffee morning at Borough Hall using a cake sale to help raise over £375 for Macmillian Cancer Support.

The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson said: “A big thank you goes out to the Bedford Borough Staff who organised the event and to all those who bought a cake, which contributed to Macmillan Cancer Support.”
