Older Peoples Festival

FESTIVAL WILL BE ‘FULL OF
‘Full of Life’ – The
Bedford Borough Older People’s Festival 2010, will be officially
launched by the Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, on the
15th September at 10am, at the Corn Exchange.
The festival is aimed at people 50+ and runs
from 15th September – 1st October.
The event promotes older people’s independence
and involvement in the community, and will serve to provide older
people with information on community, health and well-being
There will also be free health checks provided
by Bedford Borough Council, and ‘Equipment Drop-in Days’, where
people can view the equipment available from cutlery to bath aids,
walkers to chairs. Further sessions available will give individuals
opportunity to gain benefits and pension advice.
The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson,
said: "Getting older can be a challenging life transition, either
financially or personally. The council is absolutely committed to
working with the NHS and all our other partners to ensure that
older people are helped to maintain their independence, health and

also be opportunity to take part in fun and social activities such
as, dance and fitness exercise.
A ‘Programme of Events’ will be available from
the 1st September, at the Borough Hall reception, Town
Hall reception, Libraries, Age Concern, The Guildhouse, and
at the Tourist Information Office.
