What Do You Think of Our Childcare

Getting childcare right is crucial for a child’s overall development. Bedford Borough Council is encouraging parents and carers to pass on their views as to whether they feel there is suitable childcare available within the borough.

The feedback gathered from an online survey will help shape the support provided, and will ensure that parents have the right choices available to them in their area.

Cllr David Sawyer, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, at Bedford Borough Council, said: “The two major purposes of childcare are care and education. Children's early experiences and interaction with caregivers have a significant influence on their future development. The quality of care is an important concern for all those involved in raising happy and confident children. Children can't decide for themselves as to where to spend this crucial stage of their childhood, and parents can feel an overwhelming responsibility to choose the best placement for their child. By seeking feedback from parents, we hope to continue to deliver both an even and exceptionally high standard of childcare across the borough.”

Bedford Borough Council will collect information from parents, childcare providers, children and employers to feed into the ‘Bedford Borough Childcare Sufficiency Assessment 2011’.  The final report will be published in April 2011.

The consultation process will end on 29th October 2010.
