New Music Service

The start of the school year welcomes a new music service for Bedford. Music for Bedford Borough has been established by Bedford Borough Council to provide instrumental lessons, musical groups and projects for children, young people and schools across the borough.

The programmes, run by a team of specialist teachers and musicians, are able to reach over 3,000 children and young people each week.

Councillor David Sawyer, portfolio holder for Education at Bedford Borough Council, said: “The skills and enjoyment gained from an individuals’ experience of their music education can stay with them into adulthood. Over the past 40 years, Bedfordshire has gained an impressive reputation for offering high quality music education. Establishing Music for Bedford Borough gives us a fantastic opportunity to work in partnership with our schools and build upon this success.”

The opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument can provide a child with a wealth of educational, personal and social benefits. Parents keen to ensure that their children benefit from this opportunity, are advised to contact their child’s school directly, who in turn, will work with Music for Bedford Borough, and make it happen!
