Dance 4 All 2012

Bedfordshire's Biggest Dance Festival

Bedford Borough Council’s popular community dance festival, Dance 4 All, will swing into town from 11am – 5.30pm, on Saturday 13th October and everyone is invited to take part. It is the 6th annual event to date, and approximately 2,000 people are expected to attend, with performances from a selection of 40 different dance groups.

This popular all day festival will be based at various town centre venues and offers people the opportunity to either watch, experience and/or participate in a wide-range of different dance activities.

Cllr Doug McMurdo, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture at Bedford Borough Council, said: “For those that are riding high on the back of all the sports activity witnessed throughout the summer, this is the ideal opportunity to continue the momentum. Dance will also start to take precedence on TV in the run up to Christmas with the much anticipated return of Strictly Come Dancing, so we predict this could well be a particularly popular event this year. Not only does this occasion get individuals fit and active, it brings the community together as a whole.”

A non-stop schedule of dance performances from a selection of local dance groups will take place on the main stage in the Corn Exchange, while visitors can also try out sessions for themselves via ‘come and try sessions’ in the Howard Room and Harpur Suite.

Information stalls at many of the venues offer details to visitors about all of the classes and clubs, and there is an on-going programme of street performances in the town centre to help create a real buzz and festival feel.

The festival is proud to have been granted the prestigious London 2012 “Inspire” mark this year that recognises the contribution it makes to physical activity and community engagement.

Dance activities this year include: Street– Swing – Ballroom - Line – Belly – Scottish – Tap – Ballet – Musical Theatre – Body Popping and lots more…

Visitors pay £2 for a special festival wristband that entitles them to ‘drop in and out’ throughout the day, and enjoy the festival.
