ORGANIC MILK FOR OUR SCHOOL CHILDREN

From this month onwards, Bedford Borough’s lower school and primary school children are being served dishes prepared with organic British milk.

Bedford Borough’s school meals provider, Caterlink, have already been serving RSPCA and Freedom Food Free Range Eggs in their food offering.

Cllr Henry Vann, Portfolio Holder for Education at Bedford Borough Council, said: “We are delighted with the selection of food on offer, and pay very close attention to its quality and nutritional value. Healthy food is crucial at any stage of life, and as school-aged children are still growing it is particularly important.”

Neil Fuller, Caterlink’s Managing Director, said: “Healthy eating is at the very heart of our approach to food. We wholeheartedly encourage balanced eating patterns within our schools and are pleased to add to our portfolio of healthy foods with organic British milk.”

In preparing fresh food for young people, Caterlink work closely with The Soil Association’s Food for Life Catering Mark scheme.

Neil continued: “We have implemented our own Fresh Food Policy throughout our business which sets out our expectations and minimum requirements to meet the daily nutritional needs of the students and staff for whom we cater.”
