Capital Funding for School Buildings

The following information provides details of the Capital Maintenance Funding available to Local Authorities for capital maintenance, new build and improvement works.  

 

Schools Access

This funding is part of the Bedford Borough Council Capital Programme to improve access to mainstream schools for disabled pupils.  This funding supports the physical improvements and adaptations to schools for disabled pupils. Funding has been spent on ramps/ toilet adaptations/lifts and lighting/ICT equipment for visually and hearing impaired pupils.  Priority will be given to schools who either have or are expecting to admit, during the following academic year, pupils will a disability.

LEA co-ordinated VA programme

This programme provides access to 90% grant funding for Voluntary Aided schools only. It is for works over £2,000 and can be spent on condition, modernisation, access and improvement projects. Approval from EFA is required for each project prior to the commencement of the project and at the tendering stage. Projects for this programme are determined jointly between the Diocesan Boards and the Local Authority against the identified needs by schools. Contact: Sue McKeating 01234 228135
