The Borough Council promotes responsible dog
ownership for all who choose to keep a dog as a pet. It is
the responsibility of dog owners to ensure that their pets are kept
under control at all times, the Borough Council will always offer
advice and guidance as necessary when requested to do so.
The Borough Council has a statutory duty ensure stray dogs are
removed from public areas if reported or found by members of the

Change in Law from 6th April 2016
Under the Microchipping of Dogs (England)
Regulations 2015 it will be a legal requirement for owners
to microchip their dogs and keep the registered details up to
