From time to time, problems occur during the production and
distribution of food. These may be caused by production faults,
contamination or sabotage.
If there is a problem with a food product that
means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken
off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return
the product). In all cases, the reason for the product being
withdrawn or recalled will be outlined.

detailed information about food alerts. http://www.food.gov.uk/enforcement/alerts/
