All premises where cooling towers and evaporative condensers are
situated must register with the Local Authority under The
Notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers
The principal reason for the notification
process is so that the Council can identify potential areas that
could give rise to the spread of infectious diseases such as
Legionnaires Disease. Over recent years there have been a
number of outbreaks of Legionnaires disease which have been
associated with cooling towers and evaporative condensers.

If there are any changes to your plant, or it
ceases to be in operation you will need to notify us. You can
notify us of any changes to your cooling towers or evaporative
condensers by completing a new notification form.

Can my notification be rejected?
Your notification can not be rejected and the
Council cannot refuse to list your cooling towers or evaporative
condensers on the public register. We may however contact you
if we think that important information is missing from your
