Recycle on the go

new dual recycling bin

Bedford Borough residents and visitors can recycle plastic bottles, paper, cans and other items we use when we’re not at home through the ‘on-the-go’ recycling scheme.

Due to the success of the innovative ‘on-the-go’ recycling scheme introduced in Bedford’s Town Centre in 2009, more dual recycling and litter bins have been installed at various locations in Bedford’s Town Centre. In addition, these bins have been located at other busy amenity areas around Bedford and Kempston, and in some villages including Harrold and Sharnbrook. Download a list of the locations below:

It is hoped that dual recycling and litter bins will encourage people to think twice about what to do with their rubbish when out and about, helping us to increase the amount of waste that is recycled and reduce landfill costs whilst also improving street scenes throughout the Borough. Mayor Dave Hodgson stated: “The dual recycling and litter bins are an excellent opportunity to provide residents and visitors with a recycling choice for the litter they may generate whilst they are going about their daily activities in and around Bedford.”

If you know of a location that would benefit from one of the dual recycling and litter bins please let us know by emailing us at enviro-crime@bedford.gov.uk.
