Bath Safety alert
National warning on use of bath seats for babies and
Public Health England (PHE) has issued an urgent alert on bath
safety, and especially the use of bath seats, following a series of
deaths and near misses reported by London's Child Death Overview
Bath seats have been implicated in each case, and according to
reports, one in three deaths from accidental drowning in children
aged 0-2 involve bath seats.

Supervision of your
child in the bath at all times is crucial, even when using a bath
- Stay with your baby all the time when
they’re in the bath, even if there is an older brother or sister in
the bath with them.
- Remember that bath seats aren’t safety
devices – babies can wriggle free of them.
