Bedford Borough Council Adult Learning Disability Team
Is an integrated team of Qualified Social
Workers, Community Learning Disability Nurses, Community Team
Assistants and administrative staff who provide commissioning and
responsive service for Adults with Learning Disabilities.
Services are provided to adults from the age of 18, who have a
recognised Learning Disability and /or their carer meets the
eligibility criteria under Fair Access to Care.
The Adult Learning Disability Team can offer support, advice with
health and social care needs including Autism, Challenging
Behaviour and Complex Physical needs. Advise and access to services
such as direct payments, Personal Budgets, day opportunities,
employment opportunities, accommodation, help to live at home,
Transition guidance and support is also provided for the transition
of young people from Children Services into Adult services.
Referral pathway - clients can self-refer via
phone, fax or email, or referral via another professional.
The duty officer will then contact the client directly to gain
consent and any further information that may be required.
Duty officers are available from 9.00am -
5.00pm (Monday to Thursday 4.40pm on Friday) Outside of
these times our Emergency Duty Team can be contacted on 0300
Written information is available in different
formats on request and assessments/visits can be completed with
interpreters on request.
