Kingfisher Day Care Centre
Kingfisher is a Day Care Centre for 21 – 65
year old physically disabled and/or cognitively impaired
adults. We undertake a variety of activities at the centre
including: cooking, making seasonal gifts e.g. Christmas/Easter
arts and crafts, games/quizzes/debates, fundraising coffee mornings
and Christmas parties. We go on days out once a month to a
destination of the groups choice, such as restaurants, parks,
museums, bowling, zoo etc.
Members often start to form relationships with
others and meet outside of the group which helps improve their
social lives. The majority of the clients join the group as their
disability has lead them to become socially isolated, to different
levels, and thus their confidence and self-esteem have been
affected. Although the activities we arrange do help with
development for some injuries, such as memory games etc, as a whole
we are a social inclusion group with the aim to give people the
opportunity to get out of their own environments, form
relationships, become socially more confident and experience new
things with our support.
Kingfisher is open 3 times a week:
- Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 10.00 am - 3.00
pm at Bedford Athletic Club, Wentworth Drive.
